The phrase 'Light Yellow' does not do those cars justice
Indeed! More like 'slowly burn out the back of your retina yellow'

Just realised you are in Telford, not a million miles from me either (just south of Crewe). So between myself, Tim and yourself we could hit it one evening to at least get it apart and diagnose the problem? Let me know and I'll book the time off with the wife! :) I'll bring a trolley you can borrow ...

Sounds bad  You might be able to drop the front of the box far enough to get the end cover off without taking the engine out, but I have a feeling the gearshift will not come out of the tunnel without dropping the whole lump. :( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/gary71/endcase.jpg This is ...

Hi Bazz, it shouldn't move unless the gearbox is turning, so sounds OK.

Jack one wheel off the ground and put the car in gear, get a mate to spin the wheel whilst you hold onto the peg, if it spins then it should be turning the cable. Good luck :)

Very pretty car, good to see it has gone to a home where it will get regular exercise :) When I read the various reports on it, whilst it was at Autofarm, it appeared destined for a life it a museum.

Is it as scary to drive as it's specification might have you believe?

Sounds OK, I'd use a spacer tube to stop the box collapsing when you do the bolts up. Other than that on the four point harness make sure the lap belt sits down low and isn't pulled up by the shoulder belts. Adjust it first and get it tight enough not to be affected greatly by tightening the shoulde...

Hi Ian,

I replaced the whole thing with a replacement of a scrap car (£25 from Pro9 in Solihull)

Getting it down the tunnel was a interesting game  , but only took 30 minutes, I did have the advantage of pit to work in though.

Don't know if you can just replace the inner. Anyone else????

using a spreader plate under the parcel shelf gives enough strength for that mounting point Depends on how rusty the parcel shelf is.... Mounting them as James has done bolts them straight though the box section that runs across the car between the rear quarters. Assuming it's all sound this...

Hi Bazz, You should be able to get it out with the heater in, I assume the heater is the same as the slightly later cars, mine is a '72. I changed the cable on mine without removing the heater, just the cardboard cover panel and the feed hose / direction valve on one side. The valve comes off with t...

Cheers for the thought Martin, same here, I thought I'd just flooded it at first (not for the first time!) so just thought I would catch everybody up down the road.

Glad all these people we write to all day turned out to be as sound as I'd hoped! 8)

Andy,

I assume the Facet would need a separate pressure regulator to handle the return to the tank?
