Re: Registering a car for the first time.

Yes, it's a 912 - DVLA stipulate that "date of manufacture evidence must come from the vehicle manufacturer" (if the manufacturer is still in existence). A COA would have worked just fine - I wish Porsche still provided them. I figure I'll have to write and ask them for a letter confirming...

Re: Registering a car for the first time.

Just been through the process with a few cars I've recently imported - it's very straightforward, a lot of the V55/5 questions are N/A and you don't need to send a copy of the NOVA docs - as long as it's in the system they'll find it. I also provide a V112 MOT exemption form for good measure along w...

Re: 66 LHD 912 project

Thanks Sam - that's about what I thought too in todays market.

I actually think its pretty expensive for a project car at ~17k but I have an empty space in a container and it'd be a back-burner project. In a couple of years will I be saying 'I should've bought that' if I pass?

66 LHD 912 project

I've not posted on here for a while - hope someone can spare the time to give a 'what's it worth' opinion. 66 912 SWB (US car) White with black interior; matching numbers; 5-speed; 5 gauge dash. The bad: Project car that's been worked on over many years. Car is in primer and has been entirely stripp...

Need some help with shipping insurance

I am looking for marine shipping insurance to cover the transportation of my 71E from the US to UK. I've talked to Towergate (who are recommended by the shipping agent, Kingtown Shipping); the cost is likely to be 1 - 1.5% of the cargo value (~45K pounds) I also contacted Hagerty, who have insured m...

Re: Should I Ship All My Porsche Parts From U.S. Back With M

Funny, I bring as many Minstrals, Aeros, Quavers etc that I can cram in my bag back here with me.. as well as plenty of tea bags. Not found a place to live yet; we'll be in temporary accommodation at Hill of Rubislaw for a while. Looking for somewhere West of the city, preferably a converted steadin...

Re: A Scottish DDK outing

I'd love to join in, if you'll have me.

But it'll have to be a future event, my car will be 'On A ******* Boat!'

Re: Should I Ship All My Porsche Parts From U.S. Back With M

Ok, so I guess the consensus is - ship everything I can. I won't have to pay any import duties or taxes as it will all be personal/household goods - I'd just have to officially keep it all for 6 months I think. I'm going to sell some of the awkwardly shaped parts that might get damaged during the mo...

Should I Ship All My Porsche Parts From U.S. Back With Me?

Hello all, I posted an introduction thread a few weeks back; we are moving to Aberdeenshire very soon and I'm at the stage of deciding what to do with all my spare parts. The movers are coming to survey our belongings tomorrow and let us know exactly what they will and will not ship as part of my 'h...

2013 Texas Hill Country Rallye

I'm a bit new here, moving back to Scotland in the summer. This past weekend I took part in what'll be my last Hill Country Rallye for a while. I posted some photos on the the 912BBS: http://www.912bbs.org/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=44775&stc=1&d=1364354315 http://www.912bbs.org/vb/attac...

Thanks to everyone for the comments and the warm welcome.

I'll be taking part in what's likely to be my last 'local' Porsche get-together this weekend:
