Re: Went for a wee spin on the m/cycle ! (21 countries & 6000 miles)

Yes please! I'm off to Dakar (Senegal) next month on my Yamaha T7 Tenere. It's an organised rally loosely following the route of the original Dakar from the late 80s when the rally went through Morocco rather than Algeria. Was your trip invite only? Ok , will organise some photies (the 1010 taken i...

Went for a wee spin on the m/cycle ! (21 countries & 6000 miles)

It's simple really - every year for the last 6 or 7 , the FIM (that's the two wheel bit of the FIA to you Formula 1 fans) organise a get together for Motorcyclists. Usually a different country -the aim being a social event to "promote" motorcycling in the country that is hosting it. Max 25...

Re: Insurance Cover for Hillclimbs

Situation normal , as per rally cars. Yes , you can get insurance IF you can afford to pay for it .... think somewhere in the order of 15 to 25% of the cars value. Yes , not a typo. Just forget it and drive accordingly is the norm

Re: Flares....

Going to be fantastic Darren, solid rockers as well? I've decided to fit Schrick adjustable racing rockers. Given the amount of road miles this car will do as well as track use I feel they're a sound choice and will help when it comes to maintenance. These are forged CNC milled part used in many ra...

Re: O/T - Der uber-shed

I hope Sladey will forgive this question: A ramp like his needs to be floor flush in my instance which would mean creating two recesses in an existing garage floor of unknown depth; the house I have was built in the 80's, the garage base and house base 'cast' at the same time. How much concrete do ...

If it was my cooler ............. I would want some (very minor possibly) flexibility in it's mountings (ie - NOT bolted up tight - metal to metal) Don't be telling me "that's the way the factory did it" or anything like that .... it IS possible to do better !!! Me likes the car and the co...

Re: 8000 rpm/300 bhp 3.2 rebuild

Power will increase when combustion chamber gets a layer of carbon on it ............... I don't know why , but it will !! Guess 1 to 2% positive. On a rally engine it was after circa 500 miles from memory - but related to run time I expect rather than distance. Note this was deemed to be related to...

Re: When is a good time to sell?

Motorcycle demand is high (in all areas / types). Summer "time" is here .... weather on the up - go anytime from now !! CB175 sold within the last week at classic bike auction (check on line it might have been H&H) - price fair bit less than your's , but not nearly as nice / well done.

Re: No none electric car sales from 2030??

A Citroen AX is the one really. 640kg for a whole car makes you wonder how a Caterham can possibly weigh as much as 500kg. There are so many glorious engineering details on them and they’re super-aero. Just typing this made me realise how much I want one. I wonder what you could get one down to wit...

Re: Milestone crossed today (with 928 rally car project)

Any more updates on this re build thread since 2020? Lots of work done (most of it in last 6 months of 2021) - will maybe take some more snaps and post them here. Difficult to see the work that goes into it. Some stuff that sounds easy .... like organising to fit twin master cylinders for a balance...

Re: OT: looking for a skoda fabia sized car

What about something like a Kia Ceed - your budget should get you some easily only 2-3 years old with another 5 years manufactures warranty left on it? Another good idea, I've been impressed generally with Kia and a friend has had many of them and loves them The 7 year warranty is "attractive&...
