Insurance Cover for Hillclimbs

Post by kitten1 »

I'm currently with Classicline Insurance and called them to advise of 2 events that I'm participating in which I have done in the past with them.

Classicline have now informed me, as its a "timed event" they no longer can cover the vehicles. Though they would cover me for any track day event which you think would be of greater risk

Would anyone know of another insurer that can provide cover for this type of event please.

Much obliged as always

Margaret

I know Hagerty (a valued DDK Supporter!) offer motorsport cover https://www.hagerty.co.uk/insurance/motorsports/

Reis and others do cover, and you can tailor it, ie bodyshell repair, only or drive train only or total car. etc The excess is HUGE in most cases, esp shell repair.

I do not know anyone who has their car insured for hillclimbs, and I've done 10 events/year for 31 years.

It is almost if you can't afford to loose the car racing, don't do it, but each to their own.

Hagerty are brilliant insurers, call them and simply ask, super friendly to deal with, and they actually know the difference between a roll bar and an anti roll bar.

I have my 911 and the hillclimb Lola /trailer insured for years with them, all on individual agreed values, BUT the Lola is NOT insured while the engine is running at any motorsport event, on or off track.

Hi Margaret,
Laura insures our hillclimb car when she’s driving it. I’ll ask her for the details.
Cheers

Sorry Margaret, Laura couldn’t insure it any more from some time ago, for the same reasons that you found.
Enjoy yourself - carefully! 😉

Situation normal , as per rally cars. Yes , you can get insurance IF you can afford to pay for it .... think somewhere in the order of 15 to 25% of the cars value. Yes , not a typo. Just forget it and drive accordingly is the norm
Royal Enfield .. still in India
GL 1800 Tour DCT, for pleasure / Fantic 240 Professional - play
Rally 911 (1966) build parked for a while
Rally 928 (work started again - inc serious weight loss programe !)
.... and now another VW Up GTI owner.
