Re: Tuning American Chevvy Engine LS7

Depending where you're based, Northampton Motorsport are pretty handy with ECU tuning and set-up
If you get stuck shoot me a PM - I have a mate who's massively involved in the US car scene here and can probably recommend someone local-ish to you

Re: International Autosport Show, NEC

I was there at the beginning of the week for a different show and even the hotel parking next to the NEC was £12 per day Was that lama or whatever it’s called? Sent two of my guys for a nosey but not caught up with them yet. The farmer down the road said it was a bit of a jumble.. I was thinking of...

Re: 2 Stroke in the Fuel for a Long Journey, Really?

I don't think that the initial suggestion was to use a full 2 Stroke Mix :) I was meaning that 50:1 seems significant for a 2 stroke engine in terms of lubrication/combustion, however a small quantity in a full tank of petrol (lets say 25ml in 50 litres) would seem almost an irrelevance to the comb...

Re: 2 Stroke in the Fuel for a Long Journey, Really?

Not sure on calorific value, but the flash point is about 240c which is quite a bit higher than petrol. Could this be being added with the intention of reducing combustion temps a bit? I'm not sure how much is being added here, but guessing by "very small amount" its largely an irrelevance...

Re: Garage flooring recommendations - paint vs tiles vs ...?

I need to do this at some point in mine, but the floor is currently really uneven
Not sure what we use at work but the factory floor (resin or paint or something) has been down 10yr and is still near-perfect - probably its too expensive for me!

Re: Radio for a 1957-ish 356A

Yep, I get that its fitting in from the back - I think my dashboard will be un-cut and un-drilled so was glad of the info above so I can see if another type of radio might also work in a "proper 356". This is to go into a replica The radio unit will have none of the original internals, so ...

Re: Radio for a 1957-ish 356A

Awesome info, thanks! So basically you remove the faceplate and shove it through the dash.. The info on spacing will be really useful My plan is to gut a knackered radio, gut it, and refit it for Bluetooth, SD Card and USB audio input - mine will contain a small pre-amp with 2.1 channel output (RCA'...

Radio for a 1957-ish 356A

Couple of weird questions (maybe) but I can't seem to find an answer from google - maybe I'm searching the wrong thing. Does a "standard" old radio fit in a 356? I'm not sure if the ones where they fit through the dash are a standard layout, or if they have a different spacing for the knob...

Re: Press for bushes/bearings?

welcome to come and use mine too
its not a huge one (8t or 10t, i can't remember) bench-top rather than a floor stander so fits in a car dead easy if you wanted to borrow it and bring it back

Best road car - my old e39 m5. Black/black, subtle, fast, rode great, still not sure bmw have bettered it as an all around do everything car, although heard a lot of rumours about how great the new m2 comp is..

Re: What’s the worst car you’ve ever owned?

Jeep Grand Cherokee purchased as a cheap winter car.. lasted 6-days, was then flipped for what I paid for it. Fortunately the buyer trailered it home!
