Today i had 2 instances of not starting when the engine was at temperature, but not hot. Also the generator light came on and stayed on while city driving but went off on the motorway and never came back on when i left the motorway for my village. Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Took it out yesterday. Up through Rhondda and over the Rhigos, on to Brecon via Penderyn. Then on to Grosmont castle. We went to Skenfrith castle but it was rammed so we came back via Monmouth and some spirited M4 driving.

Re: a arm bush tools

I've had the car out in the mountains and it feels great. If there are longevity issues i'll deal with it in due course but as my car doesn't go out very often i'm not to bothered about replacing them anytime soon. I think for my own driving and my cars' condition items like elephant racings will be...

Re: Tyre sizes

I have ssp gas burners which are 15 x 5.5". Tyres are Avon zt5's 185/65 15's. They fill the arches nicely but no rubbing. They also grip really well in both wet & dry conditions. They're also quiet on the road and only about £50-£60 each.

Re: a arm bush tools

Both control arms have now been installed with new bushes and ball joints. 1st one i did i boiled the rubbers and sleeve. The 2nd one i just lubed and pushed on. I only used the threaded bar on the first arm. The job is incredibly easy to to do. The hardest part was pushing the arm back into the fra...

I fitted new control arm bushes to the o/s arm and refitted it. The car is now turned around and waiting for the n/s to be done.

Re: a arm bush tools

I used the uro bushes too. I don't know why i thought they would be so difficult to fit. They were a doddle to sort and i'm not 100% recovered yet.

I bought the threaded rod and used large sockets to push the bushes on. Plenty of red rubber grease and jobs a goodun.

Re: a arm bush tools

Thanks for the offers. I'm in south Wales so as pleasant as a trip to Dorset would be it's a bit of a trek. I had a friend take one arm off on the weekend for me, i'm not recovered enough to do it myself just yet. My local garage has offered to let me use his press if i need it. I may just make the ...

a arm bush tools

I'm covering all options with this job. Has anyone bought the bushing kit which includes the fitting tools? are you willing to pass them on to someone with out them, which in turn would then be passed on to another in need of them?

Having read the haynes book and looked on forums it appears that I need a special socket for the ball joints. part number 000-721-280-20 . Does anyone know a supplier in britain to buy one from. other than porsche (if t...
