New engine lids aren't that expensive. I think there are a couple on ebay at the moment. I paid under £100 for a perfect one. I hate to say it but possibly the quickest option is to cut the lid.

The guy doing my car just bought a pair of '87 doors for £150 each. They have the side impact bars and are galvanised. I believe that a little welding is required to extend the bump that operates the courtesy light switch but I'm willing to be corrected on this. I've seen doors advertised in the bac...

Not a horologist, but I do like clocks and watches. I know more about how to break them than about how to fix them. WD 40 seems to have this reputation as a cure all. All it is good for is dispersing water. For those who don't know, it was invented by NASA as a water dispersant. WD1 was their first ...

For what its worth, there isn't much you can do to a clock that's worse than squirting WD40 into it. You need to apply a very small drop of thin clock oil (WD40 is not really oil) onto a couple of parts. I saw this thread and to be honest haven't really looked at the clock yet, fairly low down on th...

Fraser, thanks. Out driving a couple of nights ago, remembered the comment about the light toggle switch being a dimmer too.

I have seen the light!! Changed my whole night time driving experience.
Thanks

I changed all the bulbs for 2A osram ones as recommended on Palican Parts. Didn't make any difference, I still can't see anything.

I couldn't get onto the green so was in the spectator's car park along with a nice 72 californian 2.4T. It was a very interesting colour, but I don't think it's come out very well on the photo I took. Like a slightly gold silver. Reg number was a few digits out from the one on the cover of 911 &...

Gary. Saw your car. Nice. Does it have a black engine grill? Mine's silver. Is that off a '73?

I went back to have another look and you'd gone. Shame not to meet.

A nice evening. I didn't get there until about 8pm and people were starting to leave. Got caught up in the middle of the mopeds - the police weren't happy with them. Only saw a few Porsches, I think we were out-numbered by De Loreans! I'll post some pics if I can work it out.
