Formal Hello

well,

I thought I would formally introduce myself to the forum now I can say that I have something in common with most of you.

I owned a 356 RHD red A just after university ( student loan paid for it! ) and loved it, but I was living in London and really, a car like that needed to be in a garage, rather than parked on the road, so I make the biggest mistake of my life and sold it, to a nice chap, for what is now such a small sum of money !!( incidentally I thought I'd gamble it all on the stock market, and came out potless! - another big mistake of my life! )

Anyway, girfriends came and went, wife came along, kids came along and I just couldnt not get another porsche, so.....

After a couple of months searching ( which seemed like forever! ) I finally went for the plunge and bought myself a 911.

Its a matching numbers T, with a lightweight look.

I had previously discounted it at Paul Stephens, purely based on the pictures in the advert, but I convinced myself to go and have a look as the Silver one he had was sold.

I'm glad I did!

The interior was a bit ropey, but has come out pretty good now there are new seats in it. Had 3point belts put in the back so I can get two child seats and new door cards etc.

First order of the day was to get the porsche stripes on it - Thank you Bootsy! - really well made - shame the person who put them on screwed them up a bit, but I saw how he did it ( easy peasy ) and couple with Ferry Mans instructions I'll probably have another go with the second set that I got ( nice one again Bootsy !)

so, here are a few pictures...

Initially met in the bluewater carpark.... ( love at first sight )

Made the plunge - and after getting it registered from Ireland over to UK plates - here it is turning up.

here is the car with the stripes - it makes the car for me! - very pleased!

Wow! The decals are really spot on! It looked a bit nude without the original trim.

Nice car Flash, lovely colour, I can see how you fell in love. Same/ similar colour as Vikkis (VG65) car? If it is, it`ll do that wonderful blue shift, colour change thing, depending on what the weather`s doing.

Yes indeed, it is the same - d'you know when I recently went up to visit my brother Burma-Shave, we filled up with petrol at night on the way 'up North' and the car looked almost lavender under the forecourt lighting

yes - it is the same colour - it looks great in the flesh, but needs a sunny day - if its dark/moody weather, then it doesnt do it justice.

I'm actually trying to follow you both, Vicky and Mike - so much so I've bought the same radio as you have

p.s - I spent the weekend fixing the stripes as they weren't 'quite' right, look much better now. - basically, aside from being put on by a chimp, the scripts were in the wrong place on the door, which meant that the thick bar/stipe in the middle didnt match at the door jamb - they match up now ....

oh and another question - do you know how I adjust the door 'out' so that it is more flush with the kidney bowl? - at the moment it looks like it needs to move out slightly?

You can adjust the door by slacking the striker on the B post. It's two 12 spline bolts if I remember correctly. Pull it out a few mm, nip it back up and try the door again.

Then wait for loads of wind noise as you open up the seals

cheers - I'll give that a go... I get the wind noise already so god knows what it'll be like when I pull the door out!
