Help needed! hello to all

Hi to All!

I have just purchased a 1970 911 type c, and have spent ages looking at previous threads admiring some of the collest cars I have ever seen!

I dream of getting my car to a useable standard as the car has been not used for about 4 years. I love the RS look replicas that I have seen but think they maybe a little out of my reach.

So is there any one here who can answer some of my silly questions sorry if they have mentioned lots of time before!

Hi thanks for getting back to me, my car has not been run for some time and is looking a bit sorry for itself, I have looked at some the RS replicas and think would be great if I could aim for that look. I really wanted to know who ddk's advice is the best garage to get involved in doing this as I dont have the time or experience to carry out the work myself. My car I belive is a Type C but I have been informed by the previous owner that the car has a 2.4 engine, how can I check what engibe the car has? and if it is a 2.4 what route would be the best way to go to increase the performance If I wanted to go the 2.7 RS way?

Sorry if the questions are silly, but first time in the Porsche world!

if you can post up the chassis numbers & engine number we could see what car / engine you have . Any photos of the car?

Whats the bodywork like?

What you need to do is try and hook up some one local to you from DDK and I am sure some one would be more than happy to come over and chat.

just search though some of the past articals and most important when looking to do a major change to your car is to look right in the costs.. it's not cheap and will always cost more than you think.

Hi,

Still having problems, loading photos any one fancy putting them on for me if i E-mail them?

As I said find out what I have got, spoke to Porsche GB and gave them my chassis number and they said that the car is a Type C from 1970 but couldnt trace the engine, the previous keeper has told me that the engine is a 2.4 and on the V5 is states 2400cc but thats where im stuck.

I cant wait for the Essex Meet be great to see some cool cars even though I will be travelling in a Fiesta TDCI so happy to talk MPG for information on pre 73 911's!!!!

The number you quote here is simply the part number of the fan shroud. The engine number is stamped on the crankcase itself.

That chassis number is for a 1970 911E & the engine number indicates a 2.4 130bhp 911T engine originally equipped with Zenith carburettors.

Hello and Welcome to DDK from an Impact bumper interloper.

So lets start with the numbers:
Chassis number indicates a 911T coupe, from model year 1970 (from aug 1970 until july 1971)

That came standard with an engine starting engine number 6100001 onwards, a 125 bhp, 177 nm@4200 rpm affair with a weight of 1020 kgs and a total number of 4126 build by Karmann, a subcontractor to Porsche. Porsche build 911 T carried the chassis numbers 9110100001 onwards for model year 1970 and there are 2418 build. Performance was 205 km/h or 127 mph, and 9,5 seconds from 0 -100 km/h as tested by the german Auto Motor und Sport.

engine now: 911 T type 911/57 engine of F programme model year 1973, 130 bhp, 196nm@4000, kerb weight of '73 T is 1050 kgs.

There is a whole book to write about the 911 engines and the difficulty of creating a 2.7 MFI engine - mechanical injection parts are getting pricey etc - but suffice to say that indeed someone has got something useful written down:

Thanks, that exactly what I needed to know. Its very early days but is it possible to rebuild the engine to 2.7rs spec if so what sort of costs would you be talking about?

Also I have noticed the arches on the RS are wider front and rear is there kits you can buy?
