Looking through old pictures and realised I should have posted this pic before the last post.

Can't believe that I didn't notice that I had a later incorrect speedo fitted - soon corrected this.

Also I tried a running with a 350mm flat Momo Monza steering wheel for a short while but soon returned to the 370mm GT which felt much better.

Looking at the above; how did you get the instruments to light up so evenly?
All of mine seem to have a candle in one place, nothing somewhere else and a laser beam in any other gaps..

I've tried new bulbs, tried leds, just the same. All grounds are continuous.

My clock stopped a few decades ago so just have it set at 9.11 am/pm.

Graham, I replaced all of the bulbs with LED and it seems much better.

A few more small jobs:

The 911R rear brake lights never seemed that bright so I needed to fit some type of high level 3rd brake light. I saw on an old Mini Cooper a Lucas lamp fitted on a bracket behind the rear window so I copied this with Hella all red R lamp. I used a twin lamp base and fitted 2 LED lamps into it for max brightness, a friend made up the bracket which I had powdercoated.

I seemed to have an ongoing problem with the fuses in the engine bay getting corroded and the car not starting. My car being a 1970 didn't have the cover over the electrical stuff so I thought it would be wise to fit a cover from a later car to keep the water out - a relatively simple job of fitting a couple of nutserts and a small bracket.

The problem with working on a car over a long time with frequent periods of no progress is that things get forgotten. A new black headliner was fitted before the car was mothballed and for some reason the interior lights were not fitted. I didn't pick up on this until I started to drive the car at night. I wasn't even sure if the wiring was in place so didn't want to risk cutting into the headliner. I experimented with a small torch and worked out that a light mounted under the dash with a bright LED lamp would give enough light and would be any easy fix. I fitted another Hella lamp with a clear lense operating from a dash switch (mounted in a spare hole with was forgotten too) and this gives enough light to see what you are doing.

Thank you, I'll try again!

Those light additions are good and very practical esp the brake light.

Thanks Darren.

The wheels on my car are bare aluminium and when I first got in on the road I used Gibbs Brand lubricant to keep the oxidation away but I think that it's currently no longer available in the UK. I've tried a few other corrosion inhibitors such as ACF50 and Owatrol oil but have ended up using XCP Pro Rust Blocker. I've been brushing this on and then wiping of the excess with a rag but it still stays a little bit sticky and seems to attract brake dust. Does anyone know any supplier of Gibbs in the UK?

Another unfinished job for which I need to pull my finger out is the engine lid. I bought another engine lid, had a few holes welded up and then had it punched with louvres by marco-warren.com - the plan was to get it painted in lightly flaked white paint to match the scallops at the front but it's still leaning up in the garage unpainted. Hopefully now that I've posted this up it will spur me on to sort it :)

A few other jobs that need doing include adjusting the clutch and pedal stop after fitting Matt's shift rod bush and Jimmy.T's aluminium clutch cable trunion, getting rid the horrible sump plate that had a large nut welded to the drain hole, making the handbrake effective, wiring the sender for the ambient air temperature gauge and getting a tune up by someone who knows what they are doing. I guess that these projects are never really finished?
