You may laugh but whilst we were shooting the photos we had a steady stream of passing female admirers - unfortunately it was for the car not us! One lady was concerned for Andy's wellbeing when he was laying in the road taking photos as she thought he was drunk!

So after another 8 or 9 years I thought that I'd liven the old thread up and try and bring it up to date. I'll try and post the stuff that's been happening since 2017 when I got it on the road, but it won't be in any particular order.

Starting with nothing too exciting, but it's what I did today - wheel nuts.

When I got the Torq Thrusts they had odd sized mounting holes and utilised the old sleeved lug type nuts. I had them all drilled to match and got some nuts machined to suit. At the time I thought that the washers weren't a nice fit but went ahead and used them anyway. On inspecting them recently noticed that they were starting to deform and the nut was 'sinking' into the washer. The problem is there isn't much spare material under the 22mm hex where it meets the 19mm shank.



I've had some thicker washers/spacers made up and bought some new sleeve nuts which are a nice precision fit. Hopefully these won't deform.



I think that I like the look of the closed nuts better too.



Whilst I was sorting my nuts out I had a spare Dan Gurney wheel machined to work with the same nuts so I wouldn't need to carry some standard radius seat nuts too to use with the old spare wheel. Another job I should have done 8 years ago!

Another quick one - I changed out the gear knob to a builtbybasil made to my design, black with a green/yellow band and engraving.

29 years, one for the up and coming '30's' club, there must be several people who are there already or close.
I'm at 38 years/ 76K miles, Arfor is the King of the Hill at many more years.

Lovely clean looking car. Fab wheels, ideal ride height.

The only women my car attracts over the years have all been over 60 or as old as the car itself if I'm lucky.
In my case it is the colour that is attractive.

I was originally using a standard corrugated Momo boss and a cloacking device to make the boss appear to be the solid earlier 230 type. Luckily subsequently I found a 230 boss for a reasonable price on German Ebay and a GT horn push to match the steering wheel on Early911s.



You may notice the lack of clock too - as the clock didn't keep particularly good time I replaced it with a large low oil pressure warning lamp. This was a fairly easy installation, it just meant changing the oil pressure sender on the engine to a VDO combination sender and hooking the switch wire up to the spare unused green wire that runs from behind the dash to the engine bay.

I ran like this for a little while but never really felt that it looked in keeping. I considered fitting a cut-off switch to a blanking plate and fitting other gauges into a blanking plate but these too wouldn't have looked good either. What I ended up doing was fitting a 924 VDO voltmeter into a 912/911T fuel gauge housing and reconnecting the low oil pressure warning to the lower warning lamp. I just used a black marker pen over the TANK on the gauge face and I don't think it looks too bad.
