Thanks Darren.
The wheels on my car are bare aluminium and when I first got in on the road I used Gibbs Brand lubricant to keep the oxidation away but I think that it's currently no longer available in the UK. I've tried a few other corrosion inhibitors such as ACF50 and Owatrol oil but have ended up using XCP Pro Rust Blocker. I've been brushing this on and then wiping of the excess with a rag but it still stays a little bit sticky and seems to attract brake dust. Does anyone know any supplier of Gibbs in the UK?
Another unfinished job for which I need to pull my finger out is the engine lid. I bought another engine lid, had a few holes welded up and then had it punched with louvres by marco-warren.com - the plan was to get it painted in lightly flaked white paint to match the scallops at the front but it's still leaning up in the garage unpainted. Hopefully now that I've posted this up it will spur me on to sort it
A few other jobs that need doing include adjusting the clutch and pedal stop after fitting Matt's shift rod bush and Jimmy.T's aluminium clutch cable trunion, getting rid the horrible sump plate that had a large nut welded to the drain hole, making the handbrake effective, wiring the sender for the ambient air temperature gauge and getting a tune up by someone who knows what they are doing. I guess that these projects are never really finished?
