Not heard of it (although I'm sure it must of been done!). There is a thread on this forum about different engines (non-porsche) being fitted to 14's which may be worth a look.
If you do go ahead please keep us posted.

This site may be of interest (it features a scooby engine though):

I tried to google putting a turbo in a 914 but didn't come up with much.

quite a few turbo kits for the 914 in teh USA. If you but the book 'turbomania' - a book covering turboing the VW flat4 engine, thay have quite a bit of detail on turboing a 914 . The kits mount the turbo next to the gearbox.
They use a Bernie Bergman kit as an example BUT DO A LOT OF RESEARCH & SEARCHES ON BERNIE BERGMAN BEFORE BUYING FROM HIM

Heh -classic! -Of course you can turbo anything (leafblower if you want) -I think most of the 914 turbos have been engineered + researched heavily by the owner -but it can be done. Trouble is everyone thinks about it buys a turbo and then gives upautohausdolby wrote: [old joke]"A bloke down the pub told me a Porsche engine bolts straight in"[/old joke]

914 turbo
I am in the process of finalising my new engine for my 14, toyed with the scooby idea and decided that it would sacrafice all the good points of a 914, then went to a 6 but decided that was too much work. I ended up speaking to my good friend at performance lab in the US (he built my 2161 for my ghia). He is now doing a turbo EFI set up which is putting out 300+ BHP and uses crank ignition timing and computer controlled FI and methanol intercooling
. The cost is not as bad as you would think when you consider the power it will produce and also the strength of the £ helps.
He is a top guy and is including custom fab of a whole exhaust system as well, he has done it on a T4 motor before but not in a 14, however he has said he will get a 914 in to make sure it all works.
I hope to be ready to start this early summer and will keep everyone posted with pics of the process if your interested.

(ps could also probably get a good deal on a group buy

turbo/EFI costs
I am still waiting for my final cost based on the spec we have decised but it could be anything from $10000 to $12500 (guestimate) or around £6K which sounds a lot but I reckon a hot carbd motor turnkey over here will be around the same.
