914 Ownership at last...

Post by defianty »

Hi All...

Been lurking around here for a while, my name is Stephen and I live in Westcliff-on-Sea in Essex, where I work for myself as a Graphic Designer.

Well after viewing many and searching for a long time I've finally found what is already my pride and joy! Collected the car yesterday and had an enjoyable 120 mile drive home. Could have only been bettered if I could of taken the targa off, bloody weather!

The car is a 73 2.0L. In lovely condition, very solid throughout just a couple of tiny bubbles in the paint in a couple of places, only really noticable very close up. Interior is virtually spotless, really well looked after.

Engine has been converted to carbs, which I think need a little adjustment, but that'll happen after I get a new exhaust as the Monza that's on it at the moment is a little to loud for my liking!

Any DDKers local? Looking forward to meeting some of you in the future at some meets.

Stephen

That looks great: that interior is amazing! Nice wheels as well 8) .

Welcome to the forum: not sure who is over your way: I know there are a few 914 folk from Porsche Club GB that must be near. As I'm sure you will find out next season, the 914 community is pretty close-knit, with everyone seeming to know everyone else. Very welcoming too ...

If you want to get out and about over the next few weeks there'll be a few going to this: http://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10730

Plus there'll be a meeting at the Fairmile, in Cobham (3rd Wednesday evening I think: keep an eye on Future Events), and Sat 23rd there'll be a bunch meeting up at Husbourne Crawley Porsche Autojumble (J13 M1: again it's bound to crop up in the Future Events section). It's a great social gathering using the excuse that you need some vital part: good chance to meet some DDK'ers.

Congratulations and welcome Stephen :)

The car looks lovely 8) do like a 914 in white, reminds me of rossi ice cream :drunken: . I'm often down that way visiting the wife's family as she's from Southend, convenient if i ever need anything from KK as well.

Don't know if there are any other DDK'rs lurking out that way, but if there are make yourselves known be great to set up a meeting out that way, It's only an hour for me.

By the way I hope you've been down the seafront today with the lid off to show the corsa boys what a proper car is

Cheers for the comments guys.

The first 48 hours of ownership have been eventfull, sprung a not to clever looking oil leak and my 914 badge fell off, luckly on the drive... as well as the oil! Guess I'm going to get dirty this weekend!

I managed to get the top off on Sunday afternoon and yes I did give it a little blast along the seafront. As much as one can what with all the damn speed cameras :( Still getting used to all the looks the car gets whilst driving it.

I hope to make the Husbourne Crawley Porsche Autojumble later in the month. What's the norm do some of you guys drive up together. I wouldn't mind tagging along with someone as I'm a bit of a DDK virgin

For the past few husbourne's some of us southerners have met up at the M1 London Gateway services early morning for a convoy up, it's always fun and the day seems to be more of a social gathering than a chance to buy bits if the last few have been anything to go by. Should take you about an hour and a half from Westcliff to get there, maybe less that time of the morning.

Keep an eye out in the futures events someone will probably put something up nearer the time.
