rear shocks

I'm pretty sure a 2.4S left the factory with Koni rear shocks or is my memory fading?

If so where is good place to get soem replacments & how much are they?

Konis are now very hard to get hold of and I think are virtually made to order. I get mine from Roger Bray, he may even have a set in stock for a 73 as I returned some recently. They didn't fit the Ferryman 72S as there was a design change around then.

Hello again.

Koni today is a very very differnet business from back in the day..its US owned I belive, and Service is not high on the agenda..rumour has that Quality is not what it was either..

I do have an excellent pair of used ones, if that helps.

They are in perfect working order, seemingly low mileage, and should be like new with just some cosmetic paint....

Type 911 sells them 112 each but they only lists them as 69-71, but 69-72 on the fronts.

I just bought a pair - they are now sold under the name of Koni Classics. - about 150 quid for the pair i recall - will dig the invoice out and check.

Bilstein...

No direct ride/handling comparision to the previous fitment (Konis) as the rears had no oil in them

However I would say the damping is very well judged for the weight of the car and still a perfectly acceptable ride. Recommended

I went straight for Bilstein gas filled all round on my S , most other suspension parts needed replacing and suspension could have been politely described as tired!

After all they were standard kit on 2.7 rs and although are that little bit firmer the extra predictable control i feel the gas gives is well worth the small loss in comfort.............think they last for ages from memory .

Hello all.

To be honest its debatable whether gas filled is any better for the road..as opposed to race or rally.

It is intended to reduce foaming which is not an issue except in very extreme use..

And Konis are adjustable..and do last very very well despite abuse..

But there is a question mark about the current Koni stuff I'm told..

My S has Koni Classics & I have very composed damping. The driver may have no clue but the suspension does exactly what it ought.

I'm going to wait until all the buses have been changed & then see if the shocks need doing
