It look great in the car and you have given me some inspiration Graham.
Iv'e got a 400mm with no outer covering, I think I'll have a go at making
a 380mm wheel out of it. Don't hold your breath though, it could take a while.....

Stop slackin'!
Ask Andy if he has a million more old wheels!
Well worth the effort and a little challenge to.
during this and the trial yesterday decided to finally fix 2 more things
Firstly the steering sqeeeeek that has been there on and off for a decade or more. It was the horn brass connection to the static ring in the column. Vaseline fixed that.
Also the drivers' side Durant mirror (repro from 1989) cannot be properly adjusted to see down the side of the car, so that's coming off to g=be filed-out to give more articulation.
Good Game.

A nice engineers solution Graham. Looks good in the car. Worth the effort I’d say.

Thank you Mike, did not realise you had watched this mini adventure.
Just done the Durant mirror articulation so slowly refining this modified little ex hill climb car.
Not much more to do!

Excellent project, bold and effective. I also admire the particpating of Garry the upholstery guru.
I was able to modify my stock three spoke SC wheel with the somewhat unicorn factory extended hub, a factory option, integral with the wheel (four spoke model in later Carrera G-bodies). I bought it off Pelican from a guy who'd started a recovering then lost interest; I drilled the factory rivets on it and mine and fastened my wheel to the "new" hub with 6mm bolts/locknuts. Improvement of moving the wheel closer to driver is huge. John

Re: The optimum steering wheel: 73T hot rod.
Thank you John.
I feel it fits my bitza 911 well, not another like it!
It has changed the car a surprising amount, and a bit of a tease to complete it, but only with the help of Andy and Garry.

Glad it worked out.
