Sort of project where you need deep pockets, but you should always get your money back, unlike a lot of other projects.....

I'm surprised this car still hasn't sold. What is happening to the classic 911 market?

This is very early '65 (missed the 300 club by only 25 cars). Does this have a bag-type windscreen washer behind the front strut top mount (as opposed to under the front slam panel)?

Time to buy then!
The restoration of this car that is hyped to a level where only a pro team can be used or its value to diminished can only make he final cost close to the cars value?

Hence it is not very desirable to the investor.
It is desirable to a racer, but if restored by a keen diy person, it will never be well respected, so the seller is looking for the rich man who will have it done by a dream team.
There may be a better way to spend £160k and be sure of a good profit.

It would be good for Ian to chip in here with his thoughts. His ‘Blue Belle’ is just about finished. Maybe he fancies another early resto? I wonder if the original colour is the same as his?

Mike

I fear that’s the trouble.

Even if an enthusiast paid £65k, gone are the days where you can do a restoration in your garage for £30k. It’s a £150k+ build.and at the end you have a car without an interesting history so the only way to make it worth more than your investment is to spend tens of thousands racing it to build pedigree.

Once the investors are gone and the wealthy semi-enthusiasts stop buying there is suddenly quite a small market. And a very particular one.

I might ring tomorrow and try to buy it for £40k...
