So, is there any way to canvas the scrap dealers? If they have a network, then they could assist in looking out for these pieces.

Are these #'s the "internal" number next to the type # on the bosses near the middle of the case?
I am entering into my database, and marking them stolen just in case they ever turn up.

These are the Case Identification numbers stamped down the Middle Rib (Underside) on every case

As for Scrap Dealers the first one we rung, told us to F...........k Off - they are all probably crushed by now

The only redeeming thing is that must have run out of room in their van and left another 14 complete Transmissions behind + the 1st 914/6 Production Engine and 3 x boxes of Trans parts

Sadly, in my limited experience, a large majority are complicit in this sort of thing, knowing full well that the moment the metal is melted down, its origins can never be traced.

What a real Ba@£$tard!
It's difficult enough to source parts for these old cars without
a bunch of thieving Pikey's helping themselves.
Iv'e posted details on my facebook feed.
Best of luck retrieving anything Mike. The garden equipment will be long gone
but lets hope the scrap metal guys realise they have just bought something
rare/valuable and don't just melt it down!

Oh Mike...... this is not good. Certainly that scrap yard you mentioned sounded abit iffy.. might be worth popping down with some random mild steel to cash in and look about..

As others have said.. Facebook is very good at getting the word about which is why i saw it....

Stuff does turn up.. we as a group managed to trick a Pompey bell end to turn up at the local pub with a bike he just happened to have in his flat but didn't know anything about it.. Oh wait no he had it ages..... but it's a 2017 new model .. oh it's my mates.. forgot his name... got bike back, scrote went off muttering how much he's going to get us all... we are still waiting

Just goes to prove it's the scrap they are after rather than obviously valuable stuff which they couldn't easily sell.
