914 Firewall bush

Post by tp_reading »

Leading on from my earlier post on gear linkage, it looks like someone in the past has had a go at sorting it out. Has anyone else seen a bodge (sorry, "modification" ) like this ?

 That's a new one to me

I see the original bush behind it looks to be showing its age. I'm guessing it became loose and the bodge  held it in place. Hopefully it isn't hiding anything more sinister.

That could well be the source of your problem!!

If there is anything more sinister lurking behind that bodge then you could use one of these shift rod bearings instead of the standard bush. I installed one recently - it was a bit of a challenge to get it in tbh, but has made a considerable difference as there is no play in it all.
