Re: Introduction before delivery!
The countdown is nearly over, just waiting on the documents from the DVLA then it will be on the road.
Dad was visiting this weekend so took him to see it and it was half pleasure half torture that I couldn't drive it home, though it's snowed heavily here this morning so maybe it's better in the dry heated garage for a few more days.
I have been thinking about the front number plate, I don't want to stick one on the bonnet so was wondering if you guys had any recommendations of mounts to use, I'm going to get a small alloy plate made up for the front.
Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Introduction before delivery!
Well, big day came, started sunny and clear with an actual warm feeling in West Yorkshire. Sadly this turned to thick clouds and rain by the time we left to pick her up.
Got there and fitted the rear numberplate before setting off on my way home, and she didn't miss a beat. I was really expecting something to happen as it had sat for so long but it really was a peach, the only error being left side headlamp stopping working (fuse sorted this) and the cigarette lighter not working, but I wasn't too fussed by that as it meant I could get lost down the lanes.
Plan tonight is to get the front plate on.
Another thing that will need doing before we do too much driving (especially France) is the fitting of some seat belts for the front, so any tips on what to get and who from would be great!
Anyway, here are the pics so far...

Re: Introduction before delivery!
Seat belts on order, may even be here tomorrow which is great as have quite a bit of driving planned at the weekend.
Electrics gradually sorting themselves out, apart from cigarette lighter and radio, but not a huge pressure to sort it out, after living with Landrover products, it seems nothing!
Only one thing I'd like to know if there is a quick fix for is the slipping of the seat back, it sometimes just wants to click back a notch, maybe to help you relax, it's provided me some entertainment watching the other half, but I think the novelty may soon wear off for her!
Thanks for all your help so far.

Re: Introduction before delivery!
Giving the seat tilt mechanism a good clean may well help the sliding issue. They can get rather gunked up over the years.

Re: Introduction before delivery!
To save you a wasted afternoon and a bleeding finger I suggest you don't bother disassembling the seat back mechanism. The seat back position relys on a cone shaped cog which wears, especially in the most often used position but spares are not available.
Options that are available are:- Weld the seat back solid in your prefered position. Buy another hinge from somewhere, making doubly sure it doesn't suffer the same ailment as your original. Investigate Popper Stoppers from Precision Matters that claim to cure a 356 seat's ability to self recline. http://www.precisionmatters.biz/seat-po ... oppers.php. Buy new sports seats from D'Eser and have them upholsterd in an attractive material of your choice. http://www.deser.it/
Car looks great.
Regards, Mike.
