Restoring a 1966

I bought the 1966 912 in the summer 2012, I drove it the 200 miles home an took it apart the next day...
I just wanted some new carpets, a small rust hole to be welded up.... that´s it...?
This summer 2014 it´s almost 2 years ago since, and several hours, money and decisions later, the car is nothing like what I bought 2 years ago.... far from.
The car was brought to a well-known body shop in Poland (Classic Mercedes and Porsche), stripped down, all the metalwork was done using only origin parts, which was to be found in France and Germany, Kroon Wiring made a complete new harness, gauges was sent to North Hollywood Speedometers, Carburetors was renovated by Gower and Lee, Paintjob by Jensen Paint Denmark.
The bodywork took almost a year, the interior, chrome work and undercarriage 6 months, paint job 3 months.
Every part that could be renovated with a successful outcome did, anything other are replaced.
The paint shop was told to wait a week between every layer and 2 weeks before it was transported back to my garage.

Only 20% left, and the car are finally done, a good friend of mine, has offered to help me to the finish line, he has taken time off, and are coming up from Germany this weekend to come...
He works in a Classic Porsche Shop and have more than 15 years of experience of putting these cars together..

Looking good. I can't quite understand why you are shipping the engine to the states to get rebuilt! There must be lots of good builds nearer surely?

In Nov. 2014 I send my engine to Benton Performance, CA for rebuild, in late January I went over to California to pay the workshop a visit.
Now, February 2016 just received my engine from Benton, completely rebuild and like new, blueprinted, balanced etc. producing more than 125 bhp...! So, this spring will be the first drive in 4 years, where I started the nut´n bolt restoration....

The motor came return from US and looks stunning, at this point, the restoration has taken almost 4 years, and I think it might will be ready for the first test-drive late April.
