They are referenced here:
http://www.export56.com/sale/cars-sold/rhd-porsche-911s
"We are proud to offer for sale this very rare and important 1966, RHD Porsche 911S. This is not a restored car, but a car that has been beautifully preserved for over 40 years. Matching numbers with mostly all of her original body panels and only 41,309 miles she is in truly remarkable condition.
Porsche launched the ‘S’ model at the Geneva Salon in September of 1966. We understand that AFN ordered three cars for customer use – the press car (LYY 911D) was ordered for delivery in October. In addition three further cars LYV 9D, LYV 10D, and LYV 11D were delivered and registered on the 9th September 1966.
Chassis # 305481S left the factory in 1966 and was original presented with Aga blue (6608) body colour and Black Leatherette interior, this scheme still current on the car. The car underwent very light renovation at Autofarm in the early 90′s and still retains all of the precious and irreplaceable details including; deco trims on the rear trim panels, correctly detailed 4.5 inch Fuchs, Webber ‘S’ stamped IDA carbs, passenger head restraint and bonnet badge"
I'm not sure what GVB 911D chassis number is.
LYY 911D is Chassis No 305328 but the above is incorrect as the car was registered 12th August 1966
(I erased the last signature as I have contacted the owner who is still around and has some interesting stories - I will post later)

Re: LYY 911D Restoration
John
The details of the first Rhd 67S cars imported by AFN have been muddled slightly over the years. I think the confusion was started by Autofarm in the 90's when they refreshed 'lyvie'. LYV 10D.
There were three press cars but there was never a car with LYV 9D.
The first three cars were yours, LYY 911D, 'lyvie' LYV 10D and the third car LYV 11D.
The whereabouts of LYV 11D is, as yet, unknown.
Edit, and to confuse the issue even further my own car has a chassis number which pre-dates them all except yours.
Regards
Mike

Re: LYY 911D Restoration
next on my list is restoration of the steering wheel.
Any recommendations?
I found this - but the leather looks rather thicker than what seems ti be on my old steering wheel.

Re: LYY 911D Restoration
John
Just sold a 67S wheel which Jonathan on here (JTParr) restored beautifully reviving and restoring and re-stitching the original leather. I wanted to preserve the original patina rather than use new leather and if your wheel leather is in tact you might be able to do the same. The leather in that Lakewell ad looks to be more suitable for later RS wheels. The leather on a 67S wheel is different and as long as it is not torn I would try and restore. Jonathan's price was very reasonable and the result was superb.

Looks like it needs a little more than leather balm

Re: LYY 911D Restoration
Yes needs replacement leather so considering options. It needs to be thin and pretty smooth. Used leather would be best. Have discussed with Jonathan Parr who has been very helpfull.

Re: LYY 911D Restoration
GVB911D is a much later car than the first 4, it didn't come in until 1966 at which point there were already at least 17 RHD 911's into the UKspillers wrote:Bit more digging and I found this article. Looks like this was built as one of the first 4 RHD 911 imports. So it would be interesting to look at the details

I'm still trying to find that photo for you John!
Re: LYY 911D Restoration
Hi John,
Sorry it's been a while since i last logged on so have only just caught up with your progress.
I would be more than happy for you to study GVB 911D, in whatever fine detail you need. It would be a pleasure.
For info, it's Chassis number is 305419 and was registered on September 8th 1966, I'm guessing it would have been part of a second consignment of RHD cars, after the first three that arrived in August.
Will be very special to reunite the two road test cars again at some point!

Re: LYY 911D Restoration
If you do an historic search of this forum you will see a previous call (by me and others) for collating all this early information on 64/65/66 Rhd cars on one easy to find thread. It's all on here but scattered about on other people's threads. We now have a wealth of knowledge on these early UK models and I once again call on those 'in the know' to start a new thread headed 64/65/66 Rhd to bring everything together. Ddk is the place for it. Let's have a list of cars built, known survivors, pictures, links to restorations, discussion on differences, colours, etc etc.

Re: LYY 911D Restoration
I couldn't agree more - I'm struggling on this forum and on the OZ TYP901 forum to get the answers to specification changes over these early transition years, for example I've found a car 2 chassis numbers away from mine but has 4 screw horn grilles - was lead to believe should have been 2 screw. I'm also wondering if this thread (should be make sticky) should include 67 and 68 cars - i.e. all SWB RHD cars with an emphasis obviously on UK cars?210bhp wrote:If you do an historic search of this forum you will see a previous call (by me and others) for collating all this early information on 64/65/66 Rhd cars on one easy to find thread.
