We over here in Northern Ireland have no fear - surely how hard could it be !! But well aware that this isn't a quick fix by any stretch of the imagination. Most of the car should be stripped by the end of the week so I'll take some more pics of the car ....... or should it be pics of less of the car? I also think that the pile of panels coming off the car will be large than what's left of the car itself - probably worth a pic!

You'd hope no-one would be stupid enough to replace steel with fibreglass, especially round the torsion bar. I'd be hoping the 'glass was used to reinforce corroded stuff. Never going to be good but there may be some steel under there

I've away with work over the weekend but Johnny has been busy stripping the car further. Again we've discovered more rust - no surprise - again lots of fiberglass! It seems that the previous "restoration" involved using sheets of galvanised tin either bolted or badly welded to the chassis then fiberglassed over - wonderful!

Car is now 95% stripped - just a few more bits to come off......

Viewers be warned! Video of the car with all the external panels removed and ready to go for some "treatment" Not sure how I feel but worried is one of them. Pretty bad shape but my fabricator says he's seen worse - doubt it!

You've probably already have this planned but I'd bolt it to a rigid frame and put tubes inside the body before it goes anywhere a tank of acid!

No it's not looking very clever - yes planning on welding in bars inside the main tub to keep it as strong as possible. Scary isn't it!

Spotted it - it's at 1:38 - the piece of shiny metal - do I get a prize?

Seriously I'm not sure of the value of welding in bars - there is so little support in there at the moment that I suspect it's flopping about like a jelly mould. Bars might be useful to keep the big bits together but I wouldn't use where it is at the moment as a reliable data point of where everything should be.

You'd tend to stick with what you've got if the car seems to sit OK and the doors shut OK and so on - but I don't think you've got that level of faith in your starting point

I would say you need it on a jig before building it up - you're going to be putting so much structural stuff in there you need to be sure it's all in the right place

Where are you going to weld the support bars to or bolt a jig in? They're only as good as the 'metal' they are fixed to.
