I was told that current Porsches use wheelnuts as oppsed to wheelbolts (ie the stud is part of the hub, rather than a hub with five holes)
I ordered a set of wheelnuts (direct from Porsche UK) but received bolts
Was I misinformed? or is it only certain models of Porsche??
The 911's I have owned have all had the studs as part of the hub.

2006 RHD 997 Carrera (but DDK remains in my heart - also now no longer)
1972 LHD 2.4T with '73 2.4T CIS motor - gone to a new DDK home
1994 RHD 993 Carrera - gone!
1968 LHD 911L - was the Wife's but now in new hands
You had me worried there so I've just been into the garage and taken a nut off my Turbo - they were still nuts on the 964 series too.
Regards
Ian

Early cars (and I suspect all air cooled right up to a change for the 996's) need wheelnuts to fit on to the studs that are part of the hub assembly.
As for locking nuts, I have the Porsche ones on my later car and as these need an 'overfit' adaptor to unlock them, are likely far more secure than those you can stick a spline type tool in to remove - hence why you often see Ford's / VW Golfs on bricks in a morning!

sorry - i've edited my post now - i meant wheelnuts
I've seen some late (Porsche branded) locking nuts - the head just being a splined shaft (like you'd see on a steering colomn) i guess there must be different sorts...
I think the easiest solution (being the weekend!) is to drive down to Porsche in the morning - at least I should know what to ask for now! lol
