Here's a pic of Meng Foongs RHD from Singapore. I believe the conversion was done in the UK. Powered by 3.2L six



It was later repainted.

Body STILL in paintshop. Currently STILL rebuilding the engine, but almost there with that. Parts are a struggle, even with the Type4!

Once the body is finishes I will post some pics.

Well some of the holes are cut in the shell for the RHD conversion and bits are being amassed all the time. Calipers being rebuilt five stud mod to front and rear fitted new inner and outer joints on the rack. New rear wheel bearings to go in to the rear. I think the next job may be to position the foot pedal assembely before we put in the new bulkhead (made from a porsche part ) So she is comming on. Theres been a hell lot more done to her but structualy she is in very good shape all 4 now Woz

Sure you are one step ahead of me here, but I got a 911 RHD pedal assembly from a breakers, and asked them to also supply the a section of the floor pan that they bolt too - this made it easy to graft in the entire assembly to the 914 floor pan...

Definately agree the pedals are the best place to start - mine has a bizarre home-grown double bulk head by a previous owner to accomodate a servo from a 3.2, which I ended up not using. Working around the bulkhead to do the pedals was not ideal, but I didn't want to cut out all the fabrication as it was extremely strong.

We are using the 914's floorpan (well up to now ) we will suck it and see how things come together. We need to come and have a look at your car have you got her moved yet ???????????? Woz

Yes - back at home now, so give me a bell when you want to take a look. The 911 pan has a dip in it, wqhich matches the shape of the pedal assembly, allowing it to sit about an inch lower in the footwell. I could see no way of getting the RHD assembly to fit squarely with original '14 pans - but you are probably a much better engineer than me!!

Drop me a pm when you want to come and take a look - we have just had another baby so are not straying too fdar from home for quite a bit!

I have been working on 914chaps car with him today. Got the new rear wheel bearings fitted along with the 914-6 rear hubs and flanges more chopping of the bulkhead for the conversion to RHD mock up of the pedal box position etc etc. Not long now before we fire up the mig and see what we can set on fire Woz

Type 4 1.8L engine / gearbox complete and ready for installation.
F & R suspension fully rebuilt & ready for installation.
Dashboard & interior almost ready for installation (require doorcard trim & carpets).
JUST NEED BODYSHELL TO PUT IT ALL IN!!!
Bodyshell now completely painted & doors / boot / bonnet fitted, however paintshop want to give exterior final flat and top coat / lacquer (they are very thorough), but it looks superb so far and definitely worth the wait.

Looks great - what colour is it? Viper Green Metallic?

How did you treat your engine casing? - mine is out at the moment while the body is being repaired, I don't think it needs a rebuild but it looks like its been left in the sea for a month

Colour is original - L95K 'Palma Green Met.' Only used on '75 models.

Engine casing - Brass wire brushes, Autosol on Scotchbrite pads & lots of hard work!!! Have not laquered casings, although might do this prior to fitting in car.
