Hi Dan,

Following the progress with great interest.

I saw this earlier and thought you might like to see a finished one:

http://www.gtclassics.co.uk/gtcsales/car1a.htm

There's a good interior and engine shot if you hit the 'next' buttons.

Yours will look cooler in grey that's for sure!

Keep the photos coming. 8)

EDIT: Just noticed it's a '74 but hell, any excuse for some RSR shots  :)

now some hand made ones have been sourced from Europe...going on next week
May I know source of the hand made ones? And were the pressed steel ones just delayed or did you have some other issues? I have turbo rear arches and not sure should I keep them or replace.

You have very solid chassis to start with. For sure it will be quality build when done, good luck!

gearbox

Post by squirdan »

fascinating to see the gearbox in bits - for a checkover and in readiness for LSD fitment

Mag cased 915 gearbox and complete matching numbers...every single gear or cog has a number etched on at the factory

testament to how good these cars can be...on a 38 year old car, hardly any signs of wear at all

"teddy bear" bearing retainer to be fitted, nothing else needed...I couldnt believe it, when the oil was cleaned off the components looked like new.

even the bellhousing is not badly corroded

Can't wait to see it Dan.

Is it the gearbox that I had in it - just interested as that is matching numbers with the engine as a set. LSD ?

hi Ian...yes, the same gearbox, what I meant was, Tuthills told me its q common to find various bits replaced, but in this one, its 100% as it left the factory... no wear on any of the gears but am replacing 3/4 synchro as there is a tiny bit of deterioration

LSD will be a Kaaz type

Just had my mag case 915 re-built (old box went into the skip..) and Mike Bainbridge fitted one into the new box, a cast steel one. First i knew about them after 22 years with 911's....

john the body was busy over the weekend. the car is really coming together now, this is a period correct colour - blut orange or tangerine

funny how wide the arches look with the original flat 6's on it

(on that subject the 4x period correct 73 flat 6's with hardly used vredesteins will be up for grabs soon...pm me if interested !)

Hi Dan

Can I ask what made you choose a Kaaz type LSD?

Regards
