Hope Sherwood restorations haven't messed with it. they were insistant that it was missing it's D interior door handle on the drivers side. didn't believe me that they didn't have them on the drivers side.nick-moss wrote:Hi Paul and welcome to DDK. I look forward to seeing this car at last after hearing so much about and knowing the last 3 owners (excepting Sherwood Restorations).

chris did a thorough inspection on the car and apart from a few, what i considered minor items it drove well...theres a minor oil leak but hey there arent many 911's of any era that dont leak a little...when i eventually get it to nick im sure he ll tell what should or shouldnt be there i am no expert for sure as long as it wasnt rotten, went, stopped and turned as it should i knew there wouldnt be much left to do after the restoration you had done...literally finishing touches i think...

Thats ok they assured me it was a 67S model because it was built in 67...I gave up trying to explain to them it was a 68S...Helen wrote:Hope Sherwood restorations haven't messed with it. they were insistant that it was missing it's D interior door handle on the drivers side. didn't believe me that they didn't have them on the drivers side.nick-moss wrote:Hi Paul and welcome to DDK. Congratulations Paul, LOF is a lovely car, you`ll throughly enjoy her as you get used to her. These 68 supers need to be driven above 5000 revs to really appreciate the nature of the engine, the coming on cam is a marvel to behold.
RHD 68Ss are rare cars, depending on who you talk to there are only 5 or 6 on the road in this country now and yours must be one of the nicest.
Regards, Mike.

Fitted as grab handles on passenger side ........................problem, it only needs one injudicious move grabbing the pocket to shut the door and the end result is ex pocket!
FWIW i ve often fitted RHD with handle and found no probs with steering ..........................ps i am not thin and take up a lot of space !

There should be no handle on the driver's side. It wasn't until 1974 that Porsche decided to fit one. if only they had done it earlier there would be far fewer early 911s with knackered door bins
They can be retro fitted quite easily. I probably have couple available.
Paul is after a pair of original 1968 Recaro Sports seats if anyone knows of a pair available.

There was a pair for sale on early S reg not long ago.
Glad to see the car being used again. It was mine for a while and I enjoyed driving it.
