possibly a 356 wheel????

It's Opel. I aquired one of these to use as a spare, believing it to be a VW wheel.

VW/Porsche hubcaps don't fit. If you look closely between the clips and mounting holes it should be stamped Opel.

I think you're not far wrong there at all. At first glance they do look VW but there are subtle differences/oddities that say they are not in my opinion.

They sure look to me like early VW bus wheels. I had some like this once; four thin vents.
However, the VW ones where quite deep. These look a little more flat but it's difficult to see this depth in your images?

Early PreAs had solid 16 inch wheels as well.
