Dear old Porsche friends

After having spent years visiting on a regular, intense basis this marvellous forum, I have decided to step across the line, to register and to start contributing.

I have been hit by the aircooled Porsche passion approx. 12 years ago, when I purchased my first 911, a 1985 3.2 targa. I had the big luck to own many of them, unfortunately (due to budget restrictions) not all contemporarily. After having moved onward to more modern 911 (but still air-cooled), I began the opposite evolution, until I came to the conclusion that early Porsche 911/912 represent the best compromise between the "old" 356s and the "new" 993s. In this convintion, back in 2006 I co-founded, togehter with 2 others aircooled Porsche nuts, the first Swiss club dedicated to early Porsche 911 and 912. The club is called "Urelfer Club Schweiz". Today, we count approx. 115 members, and the interest seems to be growing.

In November 2009 the club's website was activated (www.urelfer.ch). A couple of weeks ago the English translation was added. The website is enriched with many pictures and documents relating to the early 911 time.

Hi friends

Many thanks for the inaugural comments!

I'll try to answer the questions in a nutshell:

1. Cars (accumulated over years and bought at the time as prices were affordable)

Metallic green 911T 2.4 targa MY 1973, sold new in Switzerland, 136'000 actual km (the last one at the bottom of the members cars gallery on www.urelfer.ch).

White 911 2.0 coupe MY 1966 (built in Nov 1965), sold new in New Mexico, 2 owners car, in need of a tune-up but rock solid and never welded.

Very early ruby red 912 coupe, 70'000 km from new, sold new in Southern Switzerland in April 1965, crashed in the front (nothing substantial) in 1969 and stored since then, waiting for a restoration (50% stake, the other half is my brother who found the car).

Now white, soon again in its original bright yellow 930 turbo 3.0, sold new in Switzerland in August 1975 (thus model year 1976).

And a couple more, being currently sold so no longer part (in my mind) of the team.

2. June trip of the Urelfer Club Schweiz

Everybody is free to join. We would love to meet foreign addicted Porsche owners. If possible with an early 911 or 912, of course.

3. DDK Trip to Switzerland

It's an idea. I can offer some know-how with regard to the dates, places and routes, and could try to arrange for a Urelfer Club Schweiz delegation to welcome you here.
