I think Alan (Cortina) really has the only first hand knowledge of a recent 'known' sale of a desireable unrestored car. The fact that it has not sold for several months at the retail price it now carries means that the original selling price (I have no idea what that was but guessing at north of £40k) looks to be the current level. This looked to be a very special car.
A nut and bolt restored car is a different matter.

Surely a RHD original in the UK is worth more than an equivelent LHD?
Just for driving pleasure alone?
In Europe the same must go.
This is all into the wind if the only motive is to own the rarest spec, ie a RHD RS then so what because the buyers are only interested in the money value.
I converted my worthless T about 18 years ago from LHD to RHD because my wife was not too good at yelling to me if the road was clear to overtake from behind the lorry....
The obsession with the value of these sports cars can overtake the other value they have as a great car to own for driving, and the quest for getting the 'best' one(s) will always be a collectors dream/ambition and I accept that as perhaps the third reason to chase the perfect RHD RSL!
IMHO the experience of driving a RHD car in a RHD country and enjoying it is above the value, unless you don't drive these investments?
When the S's get too much for Joe Average's £40/50K then the E will be targeted and finally the T.
I imagine the cost to fix the S/E/T shells is the same, the engines little different, suspensions/brakes the same. Buy a T now to S spec options RHD and sit back and see the current S experience grow in your garage!
