Hi Royroy mawbey wrote:Your 356 looks great, I guess now you must feel the hard part is over, whats the engine and transmission like?
The end result if the finish continues like that shown, should make it a very good investment and hopefully a lot of fun to drive.

the transmission is stock, engine will be a 912 engine with a big bore kit and a Neutec cam. It won't be wild but hopefully push it along at a fair pace.
The original engine is a bit dusty but ok. I was in two minds whether to rebuild it and wrap it up warm in a box or leave it as it is and stick it in a crate?
I'm itching to get out and about. Actually, I'm itching to drive anything with an engine in the back. My other car also decided to go away for a freshen up.......Del wrote:that looks a very cool project. [obvious comment]Bet you cant wait for it to be drivable.[/obvious comment]

yes
and knowing my luck both will be ready at the same time. Which is better than none I suppose
It wasn't totally intentional but the 911 needed doing at some point in the near future and I needed the garage space at home for storage over winter. I can't believe I'm trying to convince anyone that it makes any sense what so ever

Well 101, your 356 is just stunning. I love it. The original engine IMO should if you are not using it should be well protected, turned over by hand on a regular basis and left as it is. I doubt you will use when you have the engine with more HP fitted in.
Always good to have the old engine there ready should you get the originality disease like I suffer from though and although I can't see you parting with this car after all this work, if this engine is original matching number it can only help with the cars value.
You should put the photos on the main talk page, a lot of people like me tend to miss out sometimes the section these are on at the moment. Many people I think will appreciate seeing these.
