The best birthday present.

Post by VG65 »

Just wanted to share a top Porsche moment :)

My birthday being 1st Feb, Danny said there was an extra present that I would get soon – thought nothing of it and forgot all about it.
Got a mail from my brother Burma Shave inviting me up to Scotland for the weekend, saying a long drive will be a good starter for a reliable season - also a few local Porsche guys were having an informal meet March 29th (yesterday, obviously). If I fancied it.
Sunday morning came, it was truly a glorious sunny day and I followed my brother in his 964 and his friend David in a 993 to meet up with the rest of the local Fife 911 guys…we seemed to going quite a way to the meeting point. We arrived at Knockhill – what a great place to meet up I thought and scanned the car park for the traditional line of Porsches.. none…we must be early I thought.
Then Johnny picked up a helmet from inside his car and said you’ll be needing this – Danny presented me with an envelope saying….happy birthday.. you're here for a performance driving session with an instructor !!.

We weren’t meeting anyone else, it was just a ploy to get me there – they had been plotting for months – I was really touched.
It was the first time on a track for me and a safe environment for me to learn more about the car.

Whilst parked, a few guys came up for a look at the car – one chap summed it up saying "you know, you can’t beat an early 911" 8)

Attached a great 10 seconds memory of a fab day

Cheers,
Vicki.

Great weekend of Porsching, fortune smiled on us with the weather.

Grand to watch your confidence growing with every lap Vix, until you were doing proper neeeeeyoowwww drive pasts on the main straight and cresting duffus all loaded up. The car looked lovely in action, especially sharing the track with a Jaguar E and that pod-racer plus 8. Youre going to need good old Auntie Rolebars more than ever now..

I got to borrow the Danny too,- to help get my 356 fuel tank back in

Had the E type experience bought for me a couple of years back at Knockhill, great first time on a track, sure it must be even better in your own car. 8)
