5.5 x 15s are really hard to come by (not many made in the first place and loads have ended up on VWs  ), so look for singles or pairs to make up a set. Failing that get a set of deep sixes fitted (most people will never know the difference anyway) and get the 5.5s refurbished and use for shows only
Hi Nick,

sent the wheels to wheel referbishers in Sevenoaks and they phoned to say that 4 out of the 5 wheels were no longer any good for referbishing.
Where is the place in Sevenoaks please? Not too far from me....

Helen i think the wheels look fine. i think the difference is to most of us they are perfectly fine but we know you like your cars straight so I would look for a nice set that you like and then sell yours.. I am sure there would be plenty of people happy to have the wheels in the condition they are currently in..

You'd be misinformed if you think that that is the right treatment for historical original fuchs wheels
3) Chemically stripped of old paint (if required)
4) Low pressure blasted to improve surface condition and paint adhesion
5) Kerbing damage is then either machined out or filled (if required)
6) Acid etched to provide anti-corosion properties
7) Primed to prepare surface for painting
8) Baked in our oven to harden the primer
9) Top coat paint is then applied
10) 2 coats of clear lacquer are applied to the front and back of the wheel
11) Finally the wheels are put back in our oven to fully cure.
Please please do not subject your wheels to this process: the ONLY proper process is what Nick describes on his website,

http://www.early911.co.uk/html/fuchs_rims.html

which can possibly also offered by alternative providers such as Alan or Biagio or Carlo Bonnetti at www.fuchsrefurb.co.uk.

Bert - I think that is a general description of the process typically used by them for refurbishing 'run of the mill' alloy wheels - not aimed at Fuchs wheels.

Diamond Styling used to be the no.1 refurbishers for Fuchs wheels in the UK - back when they were based in NW London & owned/run by Chris Talabi.

However, Chris sold his business - along with the name & machinery, etc - a few years ago so I don't know what the standard of work is like now...
