Rens Engine Build

Post by Ren »

At Last. Started the engine build.Image

Just got to get the S90 heads sorted and the comp ratio worked out. Then its the spin on filter and webers.

Check out the colour of the shroud. I had several s90 GTs sampled to get this colour and it look s pretty close to bang on.

yep in my front room. It was the cleanest place I could find.

Its all bagged up now waiting for the heads to be sorted.

They need skimming, seats ground and new guides. then CC'd and fitted up.

Any now where I can get the special 1.5mm S90 shims?

Oh its actually a lt grey with fine silver flakes in it.

one of the sample I had for the fan shroud colour.

Im still considering the precision matters spin on filter. What do you use to block up the old filter in and out?

so Can I assume from the pics tat you think I should go the seperate external oil filter that flows from the pump. Sorry I must not have made it clear, I meant, what is used to block of the inlet and outlet that flows to the old filter system from the top of the case?

Hang on a bit... just remembered that worked for me on an 1835 type 1 block in an old B... think my brother made the oil cooler blank off plate for my old 356 full-flow system. I'll check and get back to you as I don't recall an off the shelf blank for the 356 engine. I may be wrong of course... try:

Again I think you have confused cooler with filter. I was going to keep the factory alloy cooler which has been checked out and is good and fit a precision matters spin on filter which would mean I dont need the factory canister type filter that hangs of the fan shroud. It also means that I need to close off the lines that would run to the factory canister from the oil pressure sender junction block and the small connector on the case. I wanted to know what other people who have used the precision matters filter have used. Sorry about the confusion. Its difficult to describe the bits involved over chat room text. I should have taken some pics. I might tonight if I get time.
