Insurance providers?

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone can provide any recommendations for insurers for a 356? Am I right in thinking there are some that provide a discount if your are a DDK member?

My membership hasn't been processed yet so haven't received any information on that, but I need to organise insurance for my car this week as I hope to pick it up this weekend.

Hagerty seem to be on the money at the moment - no discount scheme but mention DDK and they seem to come up with unbeatable quotes!

Just got a Hagerty quote this morning for the 914 as it's is due in a couple of weeks. Great price and will be moving my business there.

Yes Haggerty are by far the best and cheapest at the moment.

not only that but they are easy to deal with too. no call centre in India or stupid questions (like is that a diesel?) either.

Just to throw another option in - I've used Carole Nash for the last two years and they've been very good. Excellent service, and the price went down this year by about £50!

Policy automatically includes UK/ European breakdown cover as well.

I worked in motor insurance for 8 yrs and the cover they offer is good.

Thanks to everyone that's replied.

I tried Hagerty this morning and spoke to a very helpful gent who unfortunately informed me that they couldn't insure me as the 356 is my only vehicle. I live in central London and don't need a car so haven't had one for the past four years.

It seems there are a number of insurers who have this provision when insuring a classic car i.e. it must be your second vehicle. Are there any other DDK'ers out there in my position?

I'm waiting for a call back from Carole Nash and Michael Ward so hopefully they'll have good news for me.

I'm pretty sure A Manning will insure your 356 under your 'only car' circumstances - my 993 is with them and used to be on an unlimited mileage / daily driver / full business use policy for under £500 although I am closer to 50 than 25
