Yes do!! as I love my watches to, I do alot of work for the head guy of Rolex UK and he and I had some chats about watches he has told me some of the stories so much so I would avoid buying a rolex from certain London watch places!! yes that close to home..

two of my current favourites from my collection (modern and vintage), the rarest vintage heuer of all - 1964 black on white carrera dato - never seen another!!
and a 1998 rolex daytona, steadily rising ini value and becoming collectable much better than current daytonas with more refined dial and zenith movement
If I was spending the kind of money required for a new white gold daytona as pictured at the start of this thread I'd be looking at 1970s rolex double red seadweller or steve mcqueen rolex explorer II - both going through the roof and a better investment than even a 911S!!!

My (automatic) Omega Seamaster started gaining 5 minutes in every hour, and has sat
in the drawer ever since.
This thread has reminded me it's high time I got fixed...

I'm not a fan of sending stuff to factories - there are two very well trained guys near to me who look after all of my watches.

I'm tempted to just wear my Sub until it does something wrong! At the moment it's about a minute or two a month slow which I think is fine.
I know they are supposed to have a service every 5 years or so but I'd be really annoyed if I had a service and it wes worse afterwards!!
I don't use it for diving so if it ain't broke.......

The point being that the main reason for the service is to change the oil, after 5 years the oil degrades, so as the oil thins the watch goes faster or the oil thickens the watch goes slower can't remember which one it was now, all I know is that I get my sub done every few years and its lasted 26 so far!

Well, I had my cartier santos ronde since jan 1995.
About 3 months after I got her, the mouvement was loosing time for more than 1 minute a month. So it became a warranty claim. It worked until 1999, after which she started loosing time. I was in the UK and dealth with Cartier, Bond street. She came back after 6 weeks- mind: most service departments are closed in august so never send your watch in summer -.
She stopped working altogether so after resending her I recieved confirmation they had changed the mouvement?!
Again serviced in 2004.
I wear that watch by preference 24 hours a day unless a significant other complains.
If chronometres such as the aforementioned submariner etc loose more than 6 seconds a day, they are running out of specification. They only service department I never heard complain about was Vacheron. The rest: rolex, cartier, my sis Chopard, other sis Baume and mercier: usually means sending back again after a service. So thats 12 weeks gone every 3 to 5 years....
