Suorce for Soft Iron Gasket

Post by Tipi_dwl »

Hi, where could I get new soft iron gasket, which goes in between the flywheel and the crank? What is the purpose for this gasket? Does it seal the tappets? I would need it quick and would like to get 4-5 pcs. at once.

The soft iron gasket is an oil seal. It prevents oil which has exited the main bearing via capillary action from then seeping through the dowel pin holes in the flywheel and contaminating the clutch.

It comes as part of the Reinz bottom end gasket set. Scat market them in packs of 10 for their VW cranks so may well do for Porsches also. I should think any scat crankshaft supplier should be able to get hold of them for you and the usual suspects in the porsche arena (Roger Bray, Andy Prill, PRS, Karmann Konnection etc) will be able to supply them individually.
