Just laid out the timing for our trip; Early start Thursday should wake the neighbours!
The timing for Sunday / Monday is pointing me to stopping in Rouen Sunday night, rather than at the circuit. If we stay at Le Mans Sunday night we will be packing a tent at 5:00am to meet the tunnel! Can't see me doing this.
Done a very quick dig on the net and this place seems to meet the spec for reasonable money. Centre of town, private parking. Twin room is 76 euro. I've booked for Sunday night, anyone else interested?

Hi Gary I have just booked a couple of rooms for me and Mike (Phil's plans have changed) for both the Wednesday and also the Sunday night in Rouen. We are staying at an Ibis hotel which also has secure parking. So we have a convoy of at least three cars for Sunday/Monday

Just some news for you guys who are going via the tunnel.
The A28 section from Rouen to Alencon is finally open (you'll seee why it took so many years to build when you cross the two huge viaducts that were involved).
This makes the journey so much quicker and less stressful - we did Le Mans to Boulogne yesterday in just 3 and a half hours, including one stop for fuel...
I am still deciding if it was the right decision to take the Portsmouth - Caen route... for the Classic

For routes in France you are best using Via Michelin
