If you want excitement for sub £20k, how about a Caterham (might get into an R300) or a S1 Elise Sport 160? Both are pretty depreciation proof, cheap to run and electrifying to drive and would make a nice change from your other cars. I have driven both extensively and they are awesome on the twisties!
The force is strong in this one ......
Re: Suggestions for another car, please
I was pondering selling my 924 turbo (see build thread) then I saw your budget Anyway, find a decent 924 turbo, get an intercooler fitted.200hp plus lighter and more nimble than a 911.Heaps of fun at turbo spooling time!

but its not old enough:
So Morgan, simple, in budget, choice of engine/performance envelope, +8 definitely exciting.

I know you said non-porsche and you didn't like anything post 73, but I love my 924S. Fast enough, comfortable, reliable great fun to drive, practical and still reasonably priced.

ALPINA Roadster S....hand built 3.4 litre straight six and 300hp....limited numbers and great to drive...depreciation proof too, now.
These are lovely....(imho)...and don't confuse with a Z4....different thing altogether..

Some great suggestions there, thanks.
The rumination continues....
Anyone got experience of Lancia Delta Integrale (a 1991,16v has caught my eye!)?

All left hand drive from the factory I think. 20 years ago I owned a couple of standard Delta's which handled beautifully .
Omichron Engineering will flog you all the bits. 8v engined Delta Intergrale's well priced but EVO models getting vary costly.
Either would need careful examination in case they've been thrashed.

IMO it's definitely more fun driving a low-powered, light weight,narrow-tyred car at 90% of its capability ...

There's some merit in that.....Lightweight_911 wrote:IMO it's definitely more fun driving a low-powered, light weight,narrow-tyred car at 90% of its capability ...
Many years ago I swopped a Cooper S for a Cortina 1600E because I'd lost interest. The 1600E was nicked twice inside 3 weeks, so I lost all my no claims discount which resulted in the purchase of a 2CV (!), which I drove flat out everywhere and thus re-kindled my interest in motoring.
My son has a 2CV languishing unused in a barn near Bristol - maybe that's the way to go?

Re: Suggestions for another car, please
Talking of low powered fun to drive cars, I have long had a hankering for one of these after having a wonderful drive in an early one, and was reminded of this after seeing the sad, neglected JPS one that lives near Bainbridge towers recently.
It appears that £20k only buys a project these days, but…OMG, the interior!
Looks an easy resto compared to an early 911

Oh sorry - too new. What about an old TVR ? That'll keep you in the garage.
