Thanks for the birthday greetings all, I appreciate the sentiments.
I'm determinedly changing my life at the moment and things are progressing well, I'm really looking forward to the coming year.
I'm currently warming my old bones on a Mediterranean island so I cannot protest, life is good.
And made better by a welcome email from my contact at VW. She wrote to me this very day confirming that the sensible car I ordered three months back has finished build at the factory and is about to be shipped to Blighty.
However, you should also be aware that my Lime Green Carrera has a CoA indicating 1st October 1973 as the build date and now - in an incredible coincidence - I have a second German car completed on my birthday. The Gods are indeed looking down kindly on me.
Thanks everyone. Thanks DDK. :)

All sounds pretty perfect Paul... is the Imp the only hire car you could get without booking or did you plan ahead and get the Fiat?

Happy Birthday and may there be many more!
