I think you have got your circs confused. There is not going to be a debt here.

The rental co have been served with a NIP/S172 "name the driver" request. They have named the renter and given his US address. The rental co may well charge the renter for this privilege. They will wack that on his credit card as their Ts &Cs allow them to do.

In possession of the driver's (US) details the plod/scamera pratnership will shrug their collective shoulders and bin the paperwork.

Job done!

Graham,

Do do you think the £35 charge on the
credit card from the rental agency might be it then? It's a major chain and I
did sign all papers I'm responsible for my "actions".
Still waiting for follow up papers. It's over a month and a half
now. If that's all there is then,I'm good with it.
Thanks for all the feedback.
Hell I wouldn't want to return to be held up in customs
for a lousy traffic offense:(
Have a good one!
Cheers, Dion

The bigger problem about getting points added is the time it takes to get your licence back. Mines been gone since March! Caused all sorts of problems with hiring cars. Still no sign of it.

Could be worse. Try it in France. They don't care where your licence is from, they have your car...

That was a couple of years ago. Since then, they're even worse, I'm told.

Hi

193 km/h (120mph) what do you expect, would the UK traffic police pat you on the back. The continent is not a race track.

Well I can't guarantee it, but plod over here certainly can't serve legal papers on you in the US to get you to pay the fine. Also, there's not a hope (or the opposite of hope) that Immigration here is connected with the fixed penalty system for speeding. So you won't get stopped at the border and sent back.

Of course when I say "Immigration" I mean the UKBA, but that might not mean much to a Septic!

Graham
PS note that "Septic" is a term of endearment  for our transatlantic friends :cheese: . It's pseudo-cockney-rhyming slang...Septic-tank=yank :) 8)

Nice one Graham! I hope I'm not too septic:)

I'm used to Yank tank referring to my old

NYP bastards have now got a camera on a 5 meter ? pole sticking out of the top of what looks like another new camera van

this now means they can 'see' over a rise in the road , or around a corner ( by looking over ) .. all before the driver / rider sees the van
