Probably too late now to help this thread, but I posted last year on how I had a 3rd brake light fitted. It still works really well. Traditionalists may not like it, but it's pretty subtle and as we use our 356 abroad quite often, I'd prefer to be seen in today's traffic conditions.

Re: Third brake light
Thanks Jeremy
I ended up getting PRS to finish off the wiring although they did an extremely thorough job and I paid for that in their hourly rate!
At least now I have a thrid brake in the same location at you and it seems very reliable.
Nowadays, it seems that most people watch out for the middle thrid brake light and not the others so at least I have that excuse covered if anyine did anything stupid behind me!!
I really think it is the most sensible thing I have done with the car !

Re: Third brake light
Hi guys
Sorry I didn't see this sooner.
I put a 9" strip of LED red lights from Harbor Freight ($6.99 on sale) at the inside top edge of the engine grille with two or three wire wraps and ran the wire to the rear left tail light wiring loom. It was easy to run the wire along the hood hinge and around to the harness. When making the connection, there are two wires to pick from: the brake light wire and the directional signal wire--choose the former. I used a weather proof clip connector, the kind with two fangs.
15 minutes and less than $10 and I was ready to go. In fact, it will take longer to post the pictures to my Photobucket account and then upload them to the DDK, so I'll do that later.
Here's the link to Harbor Freight, the pictures are terrible; envision a pencil thin 9" strip of LEDs with a trailing 5' wire. http://www.harborfreight.com/9-inch-led ... 98408.html
