1973 S Targa RHD
Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
also under bonnet ( where the chassis number is ) should be body colour not flat black
edit : of all the RHD 73 targa's I found on the internet, all appear to be manual windows, so you could be right
maybe, I don't know Targa specific details that wellcarlbon71 wrote:Targas didn't come with electric windows did they?

I'm fairly certain targas came with manual winders to support their more sporting origins!!

Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
Very interesting info chaps, I'm learning all the time.
But, is this an original 'S' or not then?
Cheers,
Kevin

Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
proabally is .. you'll need to see it in the flesh and check the chassis number area . Looks like someone has removed the Recaro sport seats at some point.Grindon wrote:Very interesting info chaps, I'm learning all the time.

Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
I don't think electric windows are any guide as to whether it's a genuine S or not.
I'm sure you could option targas with electric windows, but I'm fairly sure they were not standard on UK rhd.

Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
That chassis number is a genuine RHD Targa S in Glacier Blue. It was actually first sold in May 1973 but for export. I don't know where it went but its first registration number in the UK was an M reg which matches up with the DVLA first registration date posted earlier.
Seats should be black with check as well and it looks like they probably are not the original seats.
Only S Targa in that colour so rare colour but engine, seats and wheels at least missing off it which would make the costs add up to put it back to original spec. Plus whatever is hiding under the paint.
Ian.

Re: 1973 S Targa RHD
I never wished to suggest leccy windows were
Criteria for S
UK cars were mostly delivered with stone
Trims around wheel arches , electric windows
Two stage rear screen
Re carros optional
All sorts of extras from radio choice to
Chrome grill over silencer
In eu therefore mostly lhd far more basic
What we had was sometimes referred to
As a lux pack
There's enough ways is spotting a proper
S with or without any of the above

My first 911 ('76 2.7) was registered new in the UK with Australian spec.IanMcLeod wrote:That chassis number is a genuine RHD Targa S in Glacier Blue. It was actually first sold in May 1973 but for export.
Ian.
Then when 12 months old went to Hong Kong. Can only presume this was done to get a reduced amount of import/regestration tax in HK. Presume the same might apply to above.

Very interesting --- so what's the LHD/RHD price differential considered to be ?Ferry Man wrote:OK, I'll have a go:squirdan wrote:would anyone hazard a guess what it would be worth if fitted with a (non matching numbers) S spec engine?
A top flight RHD 2.4S coupe, matching numbers = £90k+?

A good condition RHD 2.4S coupe, non-matching numbers = £50k?

A good condition RHD 2.4S targa, with a 2.2T engine = £25-30k?
YMMV.
