Excellent and compliments the clip nicked off You Tube a treat.

Wish you could hear that engine behind your head, but you know what I mean already!

440 bhp/ton is no joke at the moment but I don't HAVE to press the throttle all the way down, but hard to resist..... :bom:

Just fantastic,
I really need to hear that in the flesh, if you know what I mean.

The video takes an age to load, but the sound track might be worth it. Just a slow practice run.

Well, so very much has gone on between the last post and this one.

Over the winter i had the box rebuilt by Mike Bainbridge and back in the car.
I thought that was it for the season ahead starting in a month's time at Loton Park.

The big PMO's needed a tune, so the Lola went down to bob Watson's for Bob to tinker with.
That was 2 weeks ago and the call from Bob this afternoon was not good.

When i took the car down we ran it there and then to find one cylinder was running at 55 deg C after 5 mins, the other two on that side running at 190 and on the other side of this 3.2 they were at 255 deg C....

Today Bob declared cylinders 5 and 6 (cold side of the engine are 25% down on leak test. # 6 cylinder hisses through the carb on TDC so that valve is in trouble.

So option now but to remove the heads on the one side and see what is happening.
First hillclimb is in 4 weeks so the race is on...in the garage starting tomorrow evening.

I hope a few valves, a gasket set etc and back to Bob's for cam timing and then back again for rolling road tune on the PMO's

Hope i can get the cam sprocket off...

Never mind..

Still a lovely heap!

Graham

Glad the souce of the problem has finally been identified, nothing worse than something that refuses to be cured for mucking up a motorsport season.

I look forward to hearing of you scaring yourself silly at Loton, once you have 6 healthy cylinders :)
Cheers

Mike

Thanks Mike.
Could have done without this distraction, but should get it done as i have 4 weeks.
I hope the issues are with valves and not rings..

I get scared driving this thing through the paddock let alone 'out there'

Lola back from Bob's this morning, seems every cylinder is down by 14% or more so full top end rebuild coming over the next 4 weeks.

Gearbox off (the box works now after it's re-build) alrady and most of the engine connections done and off. Pity to loose £100 of Shell oil after about 10 miles...

Bob agrees to do the 6 pots, re-ring and do the valves. I am worried about #6, the worst one which I think will be another barrel at the least due to a ring failure.

I recon about 500 in parts, but i dont think I can get valve guides done in this time (?) which would be the best thing to do.

Going to be busy.

Have to say Bob has been ace and such a help over this problem, but we have come to expect this of him!

Valve guides shouldn't take too long I changed mine in a morning.

Good luck.

What!?
You simply heated the head, dropped the guide out and pushed the new one in?
I thought they needed reaming to size after fitting?

Please let me know.

I did them up at Mikes (with his help) we just cut the tops off with a special drill and drifted them out and pressed the new ones in and them reemed them out, no bother. Mike has a jig the heads sit on so you can drill and press. I am sure Bob will have such things.

Kind regards
