T, E and S Spec?

Post by TDK »

Can anyone point me at an online resource that details the difference in spec (interior, exterior and engine) for the T, E and S variation 911's please?

I'm specifically looking at 2.4 LWB cars from 1972 / 1973.

Thanks...Simon.

That's quite comprehensive, but I wonder why they don't have 912, 924 or 944 introduced there?

it's pretty good resource, but still lacking detailed changes.

Mind you, thats not a bad looking car in the 1973 section ;)

That's funny James - I hadn't noticed that that is your car on there! :)

How long ago were those photos taken? Is the car outside an OPC?

Hopefully QV paid their dues to you for copyright purposes :?:

It says that E series ('72MY) had black horn grilles, but this was a '73MY change...

I think the photo was taken outside PS Automobile in Germany

This was in the mid / late 90's I believe , before I owned the car. Original recaros had been reomoved & replaced with those earlier chrome hinge standard seats + it's running the original italian indicator lenses ( which I have a NOS pair of tucked away in the garage :) )

No royality cheques have arrived yet ... After all these years, when they finally get round to it it will be quite a sizeable sum ;)

Did you buy the car from PS? Interesting that it was on an English registration? What's the story there then? Tell me to b**ger off If you like but I'm intrigued! :P

I know most of the car's history ..... taken me 7 years to discover it though as it came with no history at all

The car was originally bought in 1973 by a 30year old gentleman who kept the car until 1994 8). It then went into the hands of another local Italian who used it for Historic regularitys ( there is evidence of a Halda being fitted ). He still competes these days :). The car was then imported into the UK in the 1998.

The next bit I'm still not 100% of , but I was told it was kept in storage for a few years, only venturing out every so often to have a run through Europe to the South of France. It had 2 short term UK owners & I then bought it from Russel ( Edmond Harris ) in 2003.... I think at some point it passed through Mark Warings hands as he also has a photo of it on his website.

PS & Edmond Harris know each other ;)

James

Funny you should say this about PS and EH knowing each other. For all the times we have talked about both our cars history it has not clicked with me until now. EH told me the same kind of story that my car was imported via his German 'friend' from Italy but he gave me an individual's name which I have written down somewhere. I think I just have his first name. I will look it up tonight. I am willing to bet that he is the owner/manager or whatever of PS. I now see that all this happened about the same year too!

Does anyone know the name of the guy who runs PS (Andy?)

James, maybe you could pm me the exact date your car was imported from PS. Maybe they were done together? (perhaps you were streets ahead of me and realised this already!)

Regards
Mike

Intriguing, I purchased my car from Russel in 1996. The car was supposed to have been owned by a German dentist living in Italy who was disposing of most of his car collection. There seems to be a lot of links with Italy and Germany.

According to the 2nd Italian owner, he sold it to a German in 1998 . My records show it was UK registered 17th March 1998

here is the advert when he had it for sale

I have no details of the import :( Seems paperwork was not treasured then as it is today.

After import is where I'm missing info .... because according to Mark Waring the car also passed through his hands at some point, here are the photos he's got on his website

I do know a Mr Harrington was owning it in 1999 as I have a receipt for gearbox rebuild ( done in the south or France ! ) It appears he was the 1st UK reg keeper.

The previous owner to me bought the car via EH in Dec 2001 & I bought it in 2003

James? What website is this? I only know his new Rennsport site (the old World Wide Classics site seems redundant). There use to be a link to all the cars that had passed through his hands but that appears to have disappeared.

Cheers,
Steve
