Car back to Bob Watson for rolling road tune on the carbs.
I had lots of backfires etc and hideous consumption that could be about 3 MPG so a tad rich!
Started perfectly hot or cold.
I hope the gearchange will be better, but a look at the Ultima sites show a very simple connection to the G50 box, so i will make another linkage to simplify the one on the Lola.
Racing again in early Aug so I hope for a better result!

I saw this car today at Bob's and it's remarkable the quality of the engineering in this car. A tour de force. Exceptional work.911hillclimber wrote:Car back to Bob Watson for rolling road tune on the carbs.

Looking at the entry list this afternoon, I guess you must be happy with the gear-change now!911hillclimber wrote:No to Shelsley until I'm sure of the gear change. Having no lever gate is very strangle to handle, but yesterday I could only get 2nd and after work in the pits 3rd a few times on the move.
Late entry at Shelsley? You must be kidding!
Looking forward to seeing (and hearing!) it the next two week-ends
Cheers!

I remember that on a Formula Ford Hewland box there used to be a mod that involved a further steadying bracket being placed on the gear input shaft between where it entered the casing and the last U/J. This greatly reduced the play of the selector and tightend up the change. I'm sure a quick look round the paddock might let you see what I'm talking about.
PS was talking to your Subaru owner at Craigantlet, where he was flying Wingman to Mr F

The Lola is all back together and with 'boy-racer' spats to allow it to have an MSA Log Book for hillclimbing.
MSA objected to the tyres being beyond the body....
They are starting to grow on me, but still irritate!
The new shifter and modded clutch arm go under test at Loton Park this weekend. If the lot works it will be time to rejoyce for sure.
Just maybe things are coming together?

The spats look a better option than the cut & shut method I heard muted at the weekend
In the past ( and I'm talking about the 80s here) I was able to find a set of fibreglass spats from a rally car, if you want something of the profile of a classic Cooper S spat.
But what you have looks like they don't add too many lbs, and as Freddie Dixon said "There's nothin' lighter than nothin'."

Sat practice day but possibly 4 runs!
All the Porsche racers are there so bliss as most are ballistic.
Sunday more relaxed, but the Bullsh!t stops when the flag drops...
The plan for the body is to widen each side in the corners a bit like MkII Escort/ X Pak style with an opening front and rear of the blister.
I'm talking a full 2'' on each corner.
I want to paint the car silver with Martini stripes (like the 908-3 Targa Florio cars) so cut and shut/paint all in one.
The spats are sheet alum velcro'd onto the body, not ideal but fast to do and neat ish so nobody will laugh too much (hillclimbers are cruel sometimes!).
C U there.
Graham.

Morning, How about cutting the body if half and adding it in the middle? Easier to do than arch flares911hillclimber wrote:
