Always worth speaking to Ritchie at Karmann Konnections. Normally has some good campers, and would probably be able to point you in the right direction. Also, I believe Jez at Carrera Performance would be helpful. He has (I think) a split screen with a 993 engine/ running gear. Again, he's a very nice bloke and would be a handy contact I guess?

I bought a couple of buses from "the samba" website, mind you it was 2$ to the £ then.
Get a bus from California where you should be able to find a rot free one.

I have had two splitties in the past both Sambas, IMHO dont waste your time, get a bay window, way better to drive and look nearly as cool especially the early (1968 to 1972) ones.
A 1971 or 1972 is the best model.

early bays are nice and becoming a good van to buy. My mate bought two a few years back for £400 each !! from Arizona of The Samba and both needed a rub down and paint. Not rust!! oh and a few spiders..those bit'y ones ekk!!
