Some good info above (from Nick Moss amongst others) suggests since my car is a 69 then the hubs are the same. Winner!

Thanks for the info. I'd had a look in a few books and the only reference I could find was in the orange 912 handbook which only states that the vented disc/caliper arrangement can be retrofitted as a useful upgrade for competition use. So it certainly doesn't seem difficult but after scouring the i...

Hi Gary.

Are these still available? If they're suitable for the solid (non vented) discs on my LWB 912 then I'd like to buy em! Suffered a complete failure of the brakes on its last outing  Still not had a chance to strip and determine the cause but was looking to get mine rebuilt anyway.

Congratulations!

Not everyone's cup of tea perhaps but good if you want to maintain the theme on a visit to the Porsche museum:

Thanks for the advice everyone.......I am still indebted to you John for your help when someone ran into the back of the 912! Insurance company called back the other day to ask if we'd had time to consider their offer. Missus took the call as its her car/insurance and reasoned that the only examples...

Yeah I was surprised at how much the price of a Mk3 polo had come down in the last 9 months (when we bought it a year ago it was tough to find a good one for less than £800) so unless there's a glitch in the used car market I wasn't planning on trying to get the valuation upped. But how best to argu...

Non porsche: Parts chaser been written off :(

Apoloies for the non-porsche content but here was the best place I could think of to come for some informed oppinions on the subject. Bought my other half a VW Polo to learn to drive in coming up for a year ago now and in that time some tw@ has driven into us not once but twice and written the thing...

912 Engine rebuild - Notes from a novice!

Okay, its taken me a few years due to financial constraints and a house move along the way but my 1969 912 engine is now fully rebuilt and running. I thought I'd share my experience with others just to prove that its not rocket science and if I can manage it then so can anyone with half a brain! I w...

The soft iron gasket is an oil seal. It prevents oil which has exited the main bearing via capillary action from then seeping through the dowel pin holes in the flywheel and contaminating the clutch. It comes as part of the Reinz bottom end gasket set. Scat market them in packs of 10 for their VW cr...

Anyone like a nice new oil pump for your 912 for under £100?

Some of you may remember previous posts I made regarding the state of the oil pump drive being a bit iffy when I stripped my 912 engine many moons ago. Unfortunately these dont seem to be abundant in supply and command some silly prices (£250-300 for the top gear alone  )! So I decided "...

Restoring engine tin?

I need to find somewhere to strip my 912 engine tinwear of its existing powdercoat (its been restored before but 10 years later is not in good shape). I already have a guy lined up to re-powder coat it at a cost of £100-130 but he doesn't have the equipment to strip it (had a go with his media blast...

Paypal sent for myself and another Caroline lol Started my 912 rebuild recently, who knows if it'll be finished by then! Either way I've enjoyed trips to AJP to get parts and machine work. Always something interesting to see and Andy's enthusiasm is positively infectious. Rebuild pics to follow in a...

Super 90 Oil pump

Needed after I embarked on the rebuild of my 912 engine and discovered this inside: http://images42.fotki.com/v1379/photos/9/926668/4506419/DSC02735-vi.jpg Looks like the tang has been welded in the past and not to a very high standard! Not sure if its hardened or if its a good idea to weld this but...
