180 mph or 300 km/h speedometers

Post by Bertroex »

Hello all,

On the impact bumper forum someone (georgK) mentioned that the carrera 3.0 was factory equipped with a 300 km/h speedo. I have the 1976 factory folder and it shows a 250 km/h speedo. I believe that the 250 kmh equivalent in the UK is a 150 mph one, whilst the 300 km/h equivalent is a 180 mph one.

I have driven a few c3's and some come with a 150, some with a 180 mph speedo. (btw: i thought i had a 150 but today I realised my car comes with a 180 mph affair.)

Could anyone please point towards leads where:

1. I could find in the factory manuals what type car came with what unit
2. I could find further info on the 2.7 RS, 2.8 RSR, 3.0 RS unit differences?

(This is from a man who couldnt sleep all night trying to remember the name Namibia.)

Many thanks in advance,

Bert
