VW experts - step forward please

Post by roger »

I have a rather niggling oil leak from the oil take off plate on the type 4 engine in my 914. When it was fitted there was much discussion as to whether a rubber O ring (about 35mm in diameter) should be necessary, or whether just the rubber inserts for the oilways should do the job. The O ring was left out. Given that I seem to be getting oil leaking from this area can anyone confirm whether the circular groove in the take off plate should have an O ring.

Thanks

Hello, Roger.

I'm not sure which plate you refer to..There is a steel plate which has an o-ring of that sort of size in the bottom of the case..is this the one?

Kind regards
David

David

Its the plate that fits where the original oil cooler is fitted - it provides the take off point for the remote cooler.
